Archer & Greiner PC – Newspaper Honors Stella Tsai and Carlton Johnson as “Diverse Attorneys of the Year”

Stella M. Tsai and Carlton L. Johnson, Partners with Archer & Greiner in Philadelphia, have been named Pennsylvania Diverse Attorneys of the Year for 2013 by the editorial staff of The Legal Intelligencer, the Philadelphia-based legal journal.

The staff of The Legal researched the achievements and credentials of minority attorneys throughout the state and compiled a list of 24 Diverse Attorneys of the Year: lawyers from law firms, government agencies, public interest groups and other organizations who have had a significant impact on the law and/or legal profession. Ms. Tsai and Mr. Johnson were featured along with their fellow honorees in a special diversity supplement to The Legal last month. In addition, the honorees will be recognized at a lunch ceremony on May 22 at the Crystal Tea Room in Philadelphia.

In the diversity supplement, The Legal noted Mr. Johnson’s key role in the creation of Archer & Greiner’s Diversity Scholarship Program at Temple University’s Beasley School of Law. The collaborative effort of the firm, Temple Law and the City of Philadelphia includes tuition assistance and paid work experience at Archer & Greiner and the City Law Department. Mr. Johnson, a Temple Law graduate, received a diversity award last year from the Black Law Students Association at Temple in honor of his devotion to diversity in the legal profession.

The Legal noted Ms. Tsai’s wide-ranging practice encompassing litigation, transactional and regulatory matters, including representation of multi-national companies, as well as her extensive involvement in leading civic organizations and causes. This includes leadership positions related to diversity in the legal profession, such as serving last year as Chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Diversity in the Profession Committee and in 2011 as President of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Pennsylvania. Also noted is Ms. Tsai’s years-long leadership role on the Philadelphia Zoning Code Commission, appointed by Mayor Michael Nutter to the group that rewrote the city’s outdated zoning code.
