TechLaunch Graduates Take Top Prizes at NJTC Event

New Jersey Technology Council Honors Echolocation and Pervasive Group at 2013 Venture Conference
Montclair, New Jersey – March 25, 2013: Two Companies which were part of TechLaunch’s Inaugural Class of 2012 took top prizes on Friday at the NJTC Venture Conference, which showcases the region’s most promising new companies to the investor community and corporate business. They are:
Judges’ Choice Award: to Echolocation, whose Echo product is an iPhone app that connects you with your location through 140 character messages. When you open Echo it automatically detects which city you’re in, and provides you with the most recent updates from Echo users in that city. It’s an innovative way to get local news, discover events, and interact with people around you. Echolocation Co-Founder, Brian Donohue, commented, “Given that there were so many high quality startups at NJTC Venture Conference 2013, we were thrilled to receive this honor. Our mission is to create a really simple way for people to communicate at a location, and in doing so we feel we will be uniquely poised to capitalize on the high growth opportunity represented by the local, mobile ad market.”

Most Likely to Have an IPO Award: to Pervasive Group, for their product, MMGuardian, which enables parents to monitor and control critical aspects of their child’s phone use for safety and peace of mind. Pervasive Group Co-Founder, Paul Grossinger, stated, “We are honored to win this prestigious award from the New Jersey Technology Council and we’re very excited that others share our vision for this difference-making company and product. We are proud to add this achievement to our list of recent milestones, including the Best Company award at the NJEN conference in February, as well as winning the New York Ultra-light startup contest last December.”
