Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) and Johnson & Wales University (JWU) have entered into a new agreement that will provide for the seamless transfer of graduates of RVCC’s Food & Beverage Management Program to the Providence, Rhode Island-based university.

The new agreement will facilitate the transfer of graduates who receive an Associate of Applied Science in Food and Beverage Management from RVCC into a Bachelor of Science in Restaurant and Beverage Management degree program at JWU.

“The new agreement with Johnson & Wales University offers an excellent opportunity for our students who are studying food and beverage management to continue their education at a university with a highly respected culinary program,” said James B. Ventantonio, RVCC Interim President.

“There are many factors why students choose to attend community college, including affordability, flexibility of schedule, and the opportunity to experiment with a variety of classes before committing to a major,” said James M. Richard, Director of Culinary Admissions at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI. “More and more, we are seeing students’ path to a bachelor’s degree beginning at a community college. This agreement is formed to enable the smooth transfer of qualified associate degree graduates from RVCC to JWU.”

The new agreement stipulates that RVCC graduates will be guaranteed admissions at Johnson & Wales, providing they fulfill the necessary requirements. These include earning the requisite grade point average at RVCC and obtaining the required national food safety certification requirements.

For additional information about the agreement, contact Paul Michaud, RVCC’s Director of Transfer & Career Services, 908-526-1200, ext. 8333.
