Network security firm in Cambridge lands $7 million in funding

CAMBRIDGE — A rapidly growing network security firm in Cambridge has landed a $7-million US round of funding that will help it grow faster and move into new markets.

“We believe this will take us into a substantial next stage of business growth,” J. Paul Haynes, chief executive of eSentire Inc., said Thursday.

The company currently employs about 60 people in offices on Pinebush Road.

The funding includes $5.5 million from Edison Ventures, a New Jersey firm that specializes in information technology investments, and money from VentureLink, an Ontario firm that was involved in a round of financing that eSentire received about two years ago. Read More
